The economic team has consolidated three railway projects into one massive P777.6bn project stretching from the Clark Freeport Zone up north to Calamba, Laguna, down south. The North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) System, raised the total project cost from P440.9 billion previously, to be co-financed by loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) and the Manila-based multilateral lender Asian Development Bank (ADB). The three railway systems running a total of 147km will have 36 stations, to be connected to the Light Rail Transit 1, LRT Partial operations will begin in 2022 with 340,000 passengers expected to use the system per day. Full operations will start in 2023, with a higher projected daily ridership of 550,000.
